Senior Sports & Performance Physiotherapist — Private Family, Abu Dhabi

Medical Staff Talent

Private Medical Recruitment for the Gulf | UK & European Trained Specialists

Medical Staff Talent is appointing a UK & European-trained Senior Sports & Performance Physiotherapist to a private family in Abu Dhabi, leading injury prevention and performance rehabilitation from a private training and treatment facility.

The caseload combines performance optimisation, injury prevention and post-injury rehabilitation for active family members, delivered one-to-one within a purpose-built facility.

The Mandate

  • One-to-one performance optimisation, injury prevention and post-injury rehabilitation for active family members.
  • Design and delivery of individualised programming from a purpose-built private facility.
  • Close, confidential liaison with visiting consultants and the wider household care team.
  • Absolute discretion under NDA.

Candidate Requirements

  • Physiotherapy qualification from a Tier-1 UK or European institution, with current registration (HCPC, CORU or an equivalent European regulator).
  • Minimum seven years’ experience, including senior-level sports or performance rehabilitation practice.
  • Demonstrated discretion in confidential household environments.
  • Fluent English.
  • Availability to start within six weeks of offer.
  • Complete flexibility around the family’s calendar.
  • The ability to relocate alone and to travel with the family worldwide, often at short notice.

Package

  • £85,000 – £115,000 tax-free
  • Private accommodation within the residence and relocation arranged by the family
  • Annual leave with flights home and long-term contract stability

Scope of Our Role

Medical Staff Talent introduces and verifies clinicians. The engagement is contracted directly between the family and the clinician, and all local arrangements (visa, licensed entity, coordination with local clinics) remain with the family’s own office and advisers.

What this appointment asks of you

A senior sports and performance appointment inside a private family residence: the physiotherapist leads injury prevention, performance optimisation and post-injury rehabilitation for active family members from a purpose-built private facility, and is expected to bring the maturity of a lead practitioner — programme architecture across a training year, load monitoring, clear return-to-play criteria, and confident liaison with visiting sports medicine and orthopaedic consultants. Seven years including senior-level sports or performance practice is the threshold. The Abu Dhabi household will look for a clinician who can hold their own with elite coaching input, communicate precisely with driven principals, and keep the discipline of a protocol-led environment.

How the package is structured

The figure quoted above — £85,000 – £115,000 per annum — is base remuneration, and it is paid tax-free: the UAE levies no personal income tax on employment earnings, so the number on the offer is the number that arrives.

Accommodation and flights are provided in addition to base, which is what makes the net position so different from a UK or European salary: with housing and travel carried by the household, most of the base figure is savings capacity. Health insurance in Gulf contracts explains the cover clauses worth reading twice.

End-of-service gratuity accrues under local labour law for each completed year and is paid when the contract ends; our note on end-of-service gratuity and repatriation explains how it is calculated and what to check in the contract.

If you are leaving the UK part-way through a tax year, split-year treatment under the Statutory Residence Test usually applies; keep a day-count from the date you leave and take advice from an independent cross-border adviser; tax-free wealth preservation for Gulf clinicians sets out the planning points.

Run your own comparison with the UK versus GCC net position calculator or the Gulf net package estimator; we are happy to walk through the result with you before any interview.

Living in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is the federal capital and the quieter of the two Emirati cities: island neighbourhoods, a long Corniche, Saadiyat’s museums and beaches, Yas Island’s sport and entertainment, and a residential market that favours villas and calm. Household appointments include accommodation provided by the family — private quarters within the residence — so relocation is about settling rather than searching.

Winters are mild and outdoor; summers are hot. Abu Dhabi International flies direct to London and the European hubs, and Dubai is little more than an hour by road. Every appointment is single-status — the families we work with require clinicians who relocate alone — and the cultural adjustment guide covers the adjustments worth anticipating.

How the search is run

We run this search as a full-cycle search under a retained, confidential mandate. The first conversation is with Vanessa, our Executive Search Lead, and it is a briefing rather than a screening: what the appointment involves day to day, what the household selects for, and whether it fits the life you want. Your CV goes nowhere until you say so.

If you proceed, your credentials are verified, the household is briefed on an anonymised profile, and interviews run by video before an in-person meeting arranged by the family. Offer, NDA and contract are agreed directly between you and the family. The time-to-hire estimator gives realistic timings for a physiotherapist appointment; confidential hiring process and confidentiality, NDA and vetting explain the household’s side of the process.
