Consultant & Doctor Jobs in Doha, Qatar

Qatar hires slowly and keeps people longest

Doha is the smallest of the three major Gulf consultant markets and, by some distance, the most deliberate. Fewer facilities, fewer mandates, longer processes — and materially better retention once a clinician is in post.

Our live consultant mandates in Doha run from £190,000 to £410,000 per annum, tax-free and paid net. The upper band is competitive with anywhere in the region; the lower band reflects that Qatar hires for the long term and prices accordingly rather than paying a premium to solve an urgent gap.

What distinguishes the Doha market

Ultra-luxury boutique practice. Qatar’s private sector includes a segment of genuinely small, genuinely premium clinics — plastic and reconstructive surgery, executive health, longevity — where caseloads are deliberately limited and the clinician is the proposition.

Royal household provision. Personal physician and medical lead appointments to Qatari royal households recur consistently. Full clinical sovereignty within a private residential environment, permanent, and governed by absolute confidentiality.

Surgical centres of excellence. Concentrated investment in a small number of large facilities means the surgical mandates in Doha carry infrastructure that a country of Qatar’s size would not otherwise support.

Qatar does not usually reject clinicians. It returns their files. The distinction matters — a rejection is a verdict, a return is a queue position surrendered.

The regulator and the timeline

Appointments are licensed by the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP), with primary source verification through DataFlow.

PhaseTypical duration
DataFlow primary source verification4–8 weeks
QCHP file assessment and evaluation3–5 weeks
Assessment or examination, by grade2–4 weeks
Licence issue, visa and mobilisation2–4 weeks

Offer to licence typically runs 10 to 16 weeks — the longest of the major Gulf jurisdictions, and the reason parallel sequencing matters more here than anywhere else. Returned files, rather than rejections, are the usual cause of slippage, and they are almost always avoidable with correct pre-submission preparation.
