Travelling Family Medicine Physician — Private Family, Doha

Medical Staff Talent is introducing a UK & European-trained Family Medicine Physician to a private family based in Doha: a GP who provides the family’s day-to-day medical care at home and travels with them between residences and abroad.

The appointment offers 1:1 continuity of care for the Principal and immediate family — a materially different remit from a busy practice list, and one that moves with the family.

The Mandate

• Day-to-day family medicine for the Principal and immediate family.
• Preventative care, health checks and the review of long-term conditions.
• Travel with the family between residences and internationally, often at short notice.
• Referral to and coordination of specialist and diagnostic services when needed, under absolute discretion and NDA.

Candidate Requirements

• Family medicine / general practice training — CCT in General Practice or a recognised European equivalent.
• Substantial independent experience as a GP or family medicine physician in a UK or European healthcare system.
• Current registration with your UK or European regulator, in good standing.
• Readiness to travel with the family worldwide, often at short notice, and complete flexibility around the family’s calendar.
• Willingness to relocate alone: this is a live-in, single-status appointment.
• Demonstrated discretion and fluent English.
• Availability to start within six weeks of offer.

Scope of Our Role

Medical Staff Talent introduces and verifies clinicians. The engagement is contracted directly between the family and the clinician, and all local arrangements (visa, licensed entity, coordination with local clinics) remain with the family’s own office and advisers.

What this appointment asks of you

Family medicine for one family, wherever they are. The physician provides everyday care for the Principal and immediate family, keeps preventative care and screening up to date, and arranges specialist and diagnostic input so that the family’s medicine is joined up rather than episodic. When the family travels, the physician travels too, prepares for each trip and remains their first point of contact. It means fewer patients, deeper relationships and higher expectations than a practice list. The family will want to see a broad, current general practitioner who is candid about what can be managed at home and what cannot, and composed in a setting where protocol and discretion are non-negotiable.

Reading the package

Base remuneration for this appointment is £240,000 per annum, with accommodation and travel included, paid without deduction: there is no personal income tax on employment earnings in Qatar, which is why a Gulf figure should never be compared line-for-line with a gross UK or European salary.

Living in Doha

Qatar’s capital is the easiest Gulf city to navigate day to day — short distances, a modern metro, a Corniche for early mornings and a winter season of sport and culture — and the family provides accommodation within the residence for this appointment, which removes the main relocation variable.

Direct flights to London take around seven hours, and a good part of the year is likely to be spent travelling with the family.
