Private & Concierge Physician Jobs in Abu Dhabi

Private physician and medical leadership appointments in Abu Dhabi for UK & European-trained doctors, retained by private families and their private medical offices.

Abu Dhabi is the Emirate that hires deliberately

Physicians weighing the two Emirates rarely choose between them on purpose. The appointment lands wherever the first credible offer arrives — and a family’s private medical office in Abu Dhabi and a family office in Dubai are not interchangeable postings. For a physician deciding where to spend the next decade, that is an expensive decision to make by accident.

Abu Dhabi differs from Dubai in ways that matter to a senior clinician. The families who retain physicians tend to run larger households. Established family medical offices account for a substantially larger share of the demand. And the Department of Health licenses independently — a Dubai licence does not carry across.

What Abu Dhabi’s households are actually buying

Family medical offices. A significant share of senior demand sits inside the family’s own dedicated private medical office rather than single-physician retainers. These appointments are governed by strict confidentiality from first contact.

Medical leadership. Medical Director and chief physician appointments recur here more than anywhere else we recruit, because a family’s private medical office is often larger than a single household practice and the leadership layer is correspondingly deeper.

Metabolic, longevity and family medicine. Continuity care for principals and their families, with the physician coordinating every specialist the household uses at home and abroad.

If Dubai is where a physician reproduces a UK or European sub-specialty career, Abu Dhabi is where they get to run something.

How an Abu Dhabi appointment is structured

  • Within the household’s licensed medical entity. The most common route in Abu Dhabi, and the one that carries leadership: the physician is licensed through the household’s own entity, frequently as its Medical Director, with responsibility for its clinical governance. See The Family Medical Entity.
  • As a non-resident travelling physician. You keep your UK or European registration, accompany or visit the family, and coordinate their care without treating locally.

We see Full-Time Live-Out and Live-In or Residential appointments most, with Travelling appointments following the family’s calendar. All seven models are set out in Live-In, Rota or Travelling? The contract is signed directly between you and the household; we introduce and verify, and the family pays our fee.

Licensing: the route we map with you

Clinical practice in the Emirate is licensed by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH), with primary source verification through DataFlow.

  1. DataFlow primary source verification.
  2. DOH eligibility assessment and professional title.
  3. Assessment or examination, where your title requires it.
  4. Licence activation through the entity you will practise under, then visa and residency on the household’s side.

We map this route with you and guide you through it; we do not submit applications, process DataFlow or sponsor visas. Establish your likely title with the GCC Licensing Classifier, and read Who May Lawfully Treat Inside a Private Residence before you begin.

Living in Abu Dhabi

Island or mainland, school catchment and the Emirate’s insurance rules shape family life here more than candidates expect. Abu Dhabi for Clinician Families covers districts, schools and the insurance clause, and the GCC School Fee Benchmark compares fees in sterling.

Questions physicians ask about Abu Dhabi

Does a Dubai licence cover Abu Dhabi?

No. Abu Dhabi is licensed by the Department of Health, independently of the DHA in Dubai. Decide which Emirate you are licensing for before you start the file.

What does a Medical Director appointment involve?

Leading the household’s licensed medical entity: its clinical governance, its standards and the clinicians who work within it, while remaining the family’s own physician.

Should I choose Abu Dhabi or Dubai?

The choice is rarely about money. It turns on who the principal is, the scale of the household’s medical office, and whether you want to practise or to lead. We will tell you when Abu Dhabi is the wrong answer for your specialty.

Who employs me?

The household, or its licensed medical entity. You sign directly with them. We introduce and verify, and the family pays our fee.
