Consultant & Doctor Jobs in Dubai

Dubai buys breadth. Riyadh buys depth.

Both are real markets and they suit different consultants. Dubai’s private sector is the most mature in the Gulf: more facilities, more competition for patients, a caseload weighted toward an international expatriate population, and a concierge and longevity segment that barely exists elsewhere at the same scale.

Our live consultant mandates in Dubai run from £185,000 to £430,000 per annum, tax-free and paid net. The spread is wider than Riyadh’s because the market is more varied — a stroke programme post and a chief clinical strategist mandate are not the same appointment and should not be priced as one.

Where the Dubai demand actually sits

Concierge and longevity medicine. The single fastest-growing segment we recruit into. A concierge practice sells time — the hour that does not end when the diary says it should — and clinicians arriving from high-throughput systems frequently cannot recalibrate to it. We screen for that explicitly.

Sub-specialty programmes. Interventional cardiology, precision oncology, comprehensive stroke, aesthetic and longevity dermatology. Dubai has the patient volume to sustain genuine sub-specialisation in a way the smaller Gulf markets do not.

Private household and family office appointments. Discreet, permanent, continuity mandates for UHNW families resident in the Emirate. These are not advertised in the ordinary sense and are routed under NDA from first contact.

Dubai is the Gulf market where a consultant can most nearly reproduce a Western sub-specialty career — and be paid two to three times as much for it, net.

The regulator and the timeline

Dubai appointments are licensed by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), with primary source verification through DataFlow.

PhaseTypical duration
DataFlow primary source verification4–8 weeks
DHA file assessment and classification2–4 weeks
Assessment or examination, by grade2–4 weeks
Licence issue, visa and mobilisation2–4 weeks

Offer to licence typically runs 8 to 12 weeks when licensing is sequenced in parallel with search, which is our standard. Run sequentially — offer first, licensing afterwards — it does not, and the gap is where incumbent employers counter-offer successfully.

Establish your likely classification with the GCC Licensing Classifier, or see the full process at Gulf Healthcare Licensing Support.

Note that a DHA licence does not transfer to Abu Dhabi, which licenses separately through the Department of Health. If you are weighing the two Emirates, that distinction matters more than most candidates expect.

Current consultant mandates in Dubai

Before you compare it to home

Model the actual net position rather than the headline figure with the UK vs GCC Net Position Calculator — housing, schooling and indemnity move the answer more than the salary line does.

Where you live in Dubai quietly determines who walks through your clinic door. Freehold districts give you an expatriate caseload; non-freehold districts give you a national one. The Gulf Family Relocation Brief covers the practical side.
