Both are real markets and they suit different physicians. Dubai’s private household demand is the most mature in the Gulf: more resident private families, more family offices retaining their own physicians, principals drawn from an international as well as an Emirati population, and a concierge and longevity segment that barely exists elsewhere at the same scale.
The spread of appointments is wider here than anywhere else we recruit. A single-family personal physician and a family-office medical lead are not the same appointment, and they should not be briefed, assessed or priced as one.
Where the Dubai demand actually sits
Concierge and longevity medicine. The fastest-moving segment we recruit into. A concierge practice sells time — the hour that does not end when the diary says it should — and clinicians arriving from high-throughput systems frequently cannot recalibrate to it. We assess for that explicitly.
Family medicine for the whole household. The personal physician who knows every member of the family, holds the medical history in one place and coordinates the specialists around it. Continuity of care is the entire proposition.
Sub-specialty retainers. Paediatrics, metabolic and longevity medicine, aesthetic and longevity dermatology. Dubai has enough resident private families to sustain sub-specialised retainers in a way the smaller Gulf markets do not.
Discreet accompaniment. Travelling with a principal within the Emirates, abroad, and on the Mediterranean when the family is aboard. The work is logistics and judgement as much as medicine — see The Clinician in Transit.
Dubai is the Gulf market where a physician can most nearly reproduce a UK or European sub-specialty career — without the rota that came with it.
How a Dubai appointment is structured
There are two routes, and the difference matters before anyone discusses a start date.
- Within the family’s own licensed entity. Many Dubai families hold, or establish, a licensed medical entity for the household. The physician is licensed through it — often as its Medical Director — and practises under DHA regulation as any locally licensed doctor does. See The Family Medical Entity.
- As a non-resident travelling physician. You keep your UK or European registration and your practice at home, travel with or to the family, and coordinate their care. You do not treat locally; treatment in Dubai is delivered by DHA-licensed clinicians.

The contract is signed directly between you and the family. We introduce and verify; we are not the employer, and the introduction fee is paid by the family.
Licensing: the route we map with you
Clinical practice in Dubai is licensed by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), with primary source verification of your qualifications, registration and experience through DataFlow. The sequence is consistent:
- DataFlow primary source verification.
- DHA eligibility assessment and professional title, which depends on where and for how long you trained.
- Assessment or examination, where your title requires it.
- Licence activation through the entity you will practise under, then visa and residency on the family’s side.
We map this route with you and guide you through it. We do not submit applications, process DataFlow or sponsor visas. A DHA licence does not transfer to Abu Dhabi, which licenses separately through the Department of Health — if you are weighing the two Emirates, decide before you start the file.

Living in Dubai

Do I need a DHA licence to work for a private family in Dubai?
If you will treat the family in Dubai, yes — through the family’s licensed entity. If you remain a non-resident travelling physician coordinating their care, you keep your UK or European registration and do not treat locally.
Who employs me?
The family, or its licensed entity. You sign directly with them. We introduce and verify, and the family pays our fee.
Can I move from Dubai to Abu Dhabi later?
Not on the same licence. Abu Dhabi licenses through the Department of Health, which is a separate file. Your DataFlow verification can usually be transferred between Gulf regulators, which shortens the second application.
