Doha is the smallest of the three Gulf markets we serve and, by some distance, the most deliberate. Households take their time over an appointment, and they expect the physician they choose to stay. Qatar hires for the long term rather than paying a premium to solve an urgent gap — which suits physicians who want continuity of care to mean years, not months.
What distinguishes the Doha market
Private family provision. Personal physician and medical lead appointments to Qatari private families recur consistently: full clinical autonomy within a private residential setting, permanent, and governed by absolute confidentiality.
Family medicine and longevity. Continuity care for a principal and the wider family, with the physician holding the medical record and coordinating the specialists the family sees in Doha, London and elsewhere.
Medical leadership of a private family household. Medical Director appointments within a household’s licensed entity, combining the family’s own care with responsibility for the clinicians around it.
Qatar does not usually reject clinicians. It returns their files. The distinction matters — a rejection is a verdict, a return is a queue position surrendered.
How a Doha appointment is structured
- Within the household’s licensed medical entity. In Qatar a licence is issued against a licensed facility, so a physician treating the family locally is licensed through the household’s entity, often as its Medical Director. See The Family Medical Entity.
- As a non-resident travelling physician. You keep your UK or European registration, accompany or visit the family, and coordinate their care without treating in Qatar.

Licensing: the route we map with you
Healthcare practitioners in Qatar are licensed by the Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP) of the Ministry of Public Health, which replaced the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP) in 2019. Many clinicians and employers still use the older name.

Why do Qatari appointments take longer?
