Licensing and Relocation
Medical Staff Talent provides discreet advisory guidance on documentation, licensing and onboarding throughout the SCFHS process, including what Dataflow primary source verification will ask of you and when. See our Gulf healthcare licensing support for the full sequence.
What this appointment asks of you
Paediatric physiotherapy inside a Royal Household is family-centred practice in its purest form: assessment and individual programme design for the children, neurodevelopmental and musculoskeletal rehabilitation delivered one-to-one from a private paediatric suite, education of parents and carers so that programmes continue between sessions, and coordination with visiting paediatric consultants and therapists. Sessions are unhurried and the clinician sets the pace. The household is looking for substantive paediatric experience — ideally including neurodevelopmental work — combined with the warmth to engage children and the professional precision to report progress to informed parents. Specifying the suite’s equipment will be part of your first months.
Licensing sequence: SCFHS, Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia licenses clinicians through the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) on the Mumaris Plus platform. For a residential appointment the sequence runs as follows:
- DataFlow primary source verification of your physiotherapy degree, current registration (HCPC, CORU or your European regulator), certificate of good standing and experience letters on institutional letterhead — typically four to eight weeks when the dossier is complete on submission.
- SCFHS professional classification, which sets your title and grade; physiotherapists are classified as Specialist or Senior Specialist according to qualification and verified years, and we confirm whether an assessment applies before you commit.
- Professional registration and licence issuance, followed by the work visa, the medical fitness examination and the iqama (residency permit) on arrival.
- Household onboarding: NDA execution, accommodation, banking and the practical steps we coordinate with the family office before your first day.
With a complete dossier on day one we usually see SCFHS eligibility inside ten to fourteen weeks; the visa and residency stage then runs in parallel with relocation planning. Our notes on SCFHS and Mumaris Plus in 2026 and on the DataFlow workflow set out what to prepare, and good-standing certificates explains the one document that most often delays a file. Physiotherapists should also read how HCPC registration is assessed in the Gulf.
How the package is structured
The figure quoted above — £86,000 – £112,000 per annum — is base remuneration, and it is paid tax-free: Saudi Arabia levies no personal income tax on employment earnings, so the number on the offer is the number that arrives.
Accommodation, flights and medical cover are provided in addition to base, which is what makes the net position so different from a UK or European salary: with housing and travel carried by the household, most of the base figure is savings capacity. Health insurance in Gulf contracts explains the cover clauses worth reading twice.
End-of-service gratuity accrues under local labour law for each completed year and is paid when the contract ends; our note on end-of-service gratuity and repatriation explains how it is calculated and what to check in the contract.
If you are leaving the UK part-way through a tax year, split-year treatment under the Statutory Residence Test usually applies; keep a day-count from the date you leave and take advice from a cross-border adviser — we point every candidate to one, and tax-free wealth preservation for Gulf clinicians sets out the planning points.
Run your own comparison with the UK versus GCC net position calculator or the Gulf net package estimator; we are happy to walk through the result with you before any interview.
Living in Jeddah
Jeddah is the Kingdom’s Red Sea gateway and its most relaxed major city: a long Corniche, the historic district of Al-Balad, a diving coastline within reach of a day trip, and a merchant culture that has always been more open than the interior. Household appointments come with accommodation provided by the family, often in a secure coastal compound, so relocation is about settling in rather than searching.
The climate is warm and humid for much of the year, with a pleasant winter. King Abdulaziz International Airport connects directly to London and the main European hubs. Families will find established British and American curriculum schools — our international school fees benchmark sets out fees — and the Gulf family relocation brief and cultural adjustment guide cover schooling, spousal employment and the cultural adjustments worth anticipating.
How we run this search
Every appointment of this kind follows the same discipline. It begins with a confidential briefing call with Vanessa, our Executive Search Lead, covering your clinical profile, your motivations and your family situation; nothing is written down that you have not agreed to share. Your dossier is then reviewed against the licensing route above so that we know, before anyone else is involved, whether your file will classify cleanly.
The household or its family office is briefed anonymously. Your name and documents are shared only with your written authorisation, first-stage interviews are held by video, and a final meeting is arranged in person — usually with travel organised by the household. Offer, NDA and contract follow, and licensing and mobilisation begin the same week. Our time-to-hire estimator shows how long each stage takes; the confidential hiring process and confidentiality, NDA and vetting pages explain how the household side is governed.
