Medical Staff Talent
Private Medical Recruitment for the Gulf | UK & European Trained Specialists
Medical Staff Talent is appointing a UK & European-trained Head Nurse to a private family in Riyadh, leading the household’s nursing team — private duty, paediatric, neonatal and critical care nurses — and holding clinical governance across the residence.
The appointment is the single point of nursing coordination between the household’s Medical Director, visiting consultants and the family office, at home and when the family travels.
The Mandate
- Clinical leadership of the household nursing team: rostering, competency, supervision and development of private duty, paediatric, neonatal and critical care nurses.
- Governance: protocols, medication management, documentation, escalation pathways and audit to a standard any regulator would recognise.
- Single point of coordination with the Medical Director, visiting consultants and the family office, including international medical coordination when the family travels.
- Absolute discretion under NDA.
Candidate Requirements
- Registered Nurse qualification from a Tier-1 UK or European institution, with current registration (NMC, NMBI or an equivalent European regulator).
- Minimum eight years’ experience, including substantive charge nurse, ward manager or matron-level leadership and single-patient case management.
- Demonstrated discretion in confidential household environments.
- Fluent English.
- Availability to start within six weeks of offer.
- Complete flexibility around the family’s calendar.
- The ability to relocate alone and to travel with the family worldwide, often at short notice.
- Nurses are always placed in pairs — two nurses alternating shifts — to protect continuity of care.
Package
- From €5,000 a month, depending on the appointment
- Private accommodation within the residence and relocation arranged by the family
- Annual leave with flights home and long-term contract stability
Scope of Our Role
Medical Staff Talent introduces and verifies clinicians. The engagement is contracted directly between the family and the clinician, and all local arrangements (visa, licensed entity, coordination with local clinics) remain with the family’s own office and advisers.
What this appointment asks of you
The household’s nursing provision has grown to the point where it needs a leader rather than a roster. The Head Nurse takes charge of a team spanning private duty, paediatric, neonatal and critical care nursing: who is on, who is competent for what, how medication is managed and documented, how an escalation runs at three in the morning, and how the whole operation is audited. She is the Medical Director’s counterpart on the nursing side, the family office’s single point of contact for anything nursing-related, and the coordinator of medical arrangements when the family travels abroad. Eight years including substantive leadership at charge nurse, ward manager or matron level is the threshold; the Riyadh household will select for authority without noise, governance instinct and discretion.
Reading the package
Base remuneration starts from €5,000 a month, depending on the appointment, and is paid without deduction: there is no personal income tax on employment earnings in Saudi Arabia, which is why a Gulf figure should never be compared line-for-line with a gross UK or European salary.
Because accommodation and flights sit outside the base figure, the practical comparison is with your current net pay after rent, commuting and tax — not with your gross salary. Our note on reading the real numbers behind a tax-free salary walks through that arithmetic.
An end-of-service gratuity accrues for every completed year of service and is settled on departure — see end-of-service gratuity and repatriation for the calculation and the contract clauses that govern it.
Your home-country tax position on departure — split-year treatment for UK residents, exit formalities elsewhere in Europe — is worth settling with an independent cross-border adviser before the first salary lands, and cost of living and net position for Gulf clinicians gives the household-level numbers.
Run your own comparison with the UK versus GCC net position calculator or the Gulf net package estimator; we are happy to walk through the result with you before any interview.
Living in Riyadh
The capital rewards clinicians who arrive with a plan for their time off: the Diplomatic Quarter’s parks and restaurants, the compounds’ pools and sports clubs, Diriyah’s historic district, and a winter calendar of concerts, sport and exhibitions that did not exist a few years ago. Accommodation for a household appointment is provided by the family, within the residence, which removes the largest relocation variable at a stroke.
Direct flights to London take around seven hours; Jeddah and the Red Sea coast are an hour’s flight for a weekend. The cultural adjustment guide covers what nobody puts in the offer letter. Every appointment is single-status: the families we work with require clinicians who relocate alone.
What happens when you apply
The household has retained us exclusively, which shapes how the search runs: there is no agency panel and no CV database. Vanessa, our Executive Search Lead, holds a confidential briefing call with every candidate we take forward — the appointment in detail, the household’s expectations and the life around the post — before anything is committed to paper.
From there the sequence is fixed: dossier and credential verification, an anonymised profile to the family office with your written authorisation, video interviews, an in-person meeting arranged by the household, then offer, NDA and a contract agreed directly with the family. The time-to-hire estimator shows what each stage takes for a nurse appointment; confidential hiring process and confidentiality, NDA and vetting explain the household’s side.
