Private Medical Recruitment for the Gulf | UK & European Trained Specialists

A prominent UHNW family in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Private Duty Nurse for a permanent, full-time in-residence care role within their private compound, delivering discreet, one-on-one clinical care in close coordination with the family’s personal physician.

The Mandate

Deliver individualised, one-to-one health management for the family within a private residential compound, working alongside the household’s personal physician on ongoing care planning. The role calls for total discretion and the composure to manage a long-term, high-acuity care relationship.

Requirements

  • UK & European-trained Registered Nurse, 6+ years’ post-qualification experience in private duty or high-acuity home care
  • Current, unrestricted professional licensure in the home jurisdiction
  • Fluent English essential
  • Strict NDA compliance and total professional discretion mandatory

Package

  • £62,000 – £95,000 per annum, tax-free, paid net
  • Private residence-based accommodation and chauffeured transport
  • Comprehensive medical insurance
  • Long-term appointment with genuine scope for renewal

Licensing and Relocation

This role requires eligibility for Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi registration. Medical Staff Talent provides advisory guidance and documentation support throughout the licensing process, including DataFlow primary source verification — full detail on our Gulf healthcare licensing support page.

What this appointment asks of you

This is a long-term, high-acuity care relationship delivered inside a private compound and coordinated with the family’s personal physician. The nurse manages day-to-day clinical care for a named member of the family — monitoring, medication governance, complex care routines, escalation — and contributes to ongoing care planning as a trusted clinical partner rather than a task-taker. The breadth of the package reflects the acuity and the expectation of continuity: the family is looking for someone who will stay, whose judgement can be relied on at three in the morning, and who understands that composure and discretion are part of the clinical skill set. Substantive private duty or high-acuity home care experience is the foundation.

Licensing sequence: DOH, Abu Dhabi

The regulator in Abu Dhabi is the Department of Health (DOH); applications run through TAMM and the route for this appointment is:

  • DataFlow primary source verification of your nursing degree, current registration (NMC, NMBI or your European regulator), certificate of good standing and experience letters on institutional letterhead — typically four to eight weeks with a complete dossier.
  • DOH evaluation of qualifications and experience: Tier-1 registration with verified experience is generally exempt from the DOH assessment; where an assessment applies we tell you before you commit.
  • Licence issuance under the licensed private medical entity associated with the household, followed by the residence visa and Emirates ID.
  • Household onboarding: NDA execution, accommodation, banking and the practical steps we coordinate with the family office before your first day.

With a complete dossier on day one we usually see DOH eligibility inside eight to twelve weeks. Our DOH licensing guide sets out each stage, licensing for private residences explains how a household appointment is sponsored, and rejections, discrepancies and appeals covers what happens when a document does not match. Nurses should also read how NMC, NMBI and European registrations are treated.

Reading the package

Base remuneration for this appointment is £62,000 – £95,000 per annum, paid without deduction: there is no personal income tax on employment earnings in the UAE, which is why a Gulf figure should never be compared line-for-line with a gross UK or European salary.

Because accommodation, flights and health cover sit outside the base figure, the practical comparison is with your current net pay after rent, commuting and tax — not with your gross salary. Our note on reading the real numbers behind a tax-free salary walks through that arithmetic.

An end-of-service gratuity accrues for every completed year of service and is settled on departure — see end-of-service gratuity and repatriation for the calculation and the contract clauses that govern it.

Your home-country tax position on departure — split-year treatment for UK residents, exit formalities elsewhere in Europe — is worth settling before the first salary lands; we introduce candidates to a cross-border adviser, and cost of living and net position for Gulf clinicians gives the household-level numbers.

Run your own comparison with the UK versus GCC net position calculator or the Gulf net package estimator; we are happy to walk through the result with you before any interview.

Living in Abu Dhabi

The capital is the Gulf city most often described as liveable: Saadiyat and Al Reem for families, the Corniche for early mornings, a cultural calendar anchored by the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and a pace that suits clinicians who want a settled life around a demanding appointment. The family provides accommodation for this post, usually within the compound.

Direct flights to London take around seven hours and Dubai is an hour by road. The Abu Dhabi districts and schools guide covers districts and schools, the Gulf family relocation brief explains spousal employment and the practicalities, and the cultural adjustment guide covers the unwritten rules.

What happens when you apply

The household has retained us exclusively, which shapes how the search runs: there is no advertisement beyond this page, no agency panel, and no CV database. Vanessa, our Executive Search Lead, holds a confidential briefing call with every candidate we take forward — the appointment in detail, the household’s expectations, the licensing route and the life around the post — before anything is committed to paper.

From there the sequence is fixed: dossier and licensing check, an anonymised profile to the family office with your written authorisation, video interviews, an in-person meeting arranged by the household, then offer, NDA and contract before licensing fees are incurred. The time-to-hire estimator shows what each stage takes for a nurse appointment; confidential hiring process and confidentiality, NDA and vetting explain the household’s side.
