Private Duty Nurse — Private Family, Riyadh

Medical Staff Talent

Private Medical Recruitment for the Gulf | UK & European Trained Specialists

Medical Staff Talent is appointing a UK & European-trained Private Duty Nurse to a private family in Riyadh.

This is high-acuity one-to-one nursing inside a private residential setting. The household runs a fully staffed private medical suite, and the post carries genuine scope for autonomous practice rather than task-based delegation.

The Mandate

  • Discreet, continuous one-to-one care within a private residential environment.
  • Autonomous nursing practice supported by a fully staffed private medical suite.
  • Direct continuity of care — the same nurse, the same principal, over the long term.
  • Absolute discretion as an operating condition, governed by strict NDA.

Candidate Requirements

  • Registered Nurse with valid licence and current registration.
  • Minimum seven years acute or private duty nursing experience.
  • Trained and licensed in a Tier-1 UK or European healthcare system — UK, Ireland, or an accepted European jurisdiction.
  • Fluent English.
  • Eligibility to meet SCFHS accreditation standards.

Package

  • £65,000 – £100,000 per annum, tax-free and paid net.
  • Private staff accommodation, flights and full medical cover included.
  • Guidance through SCFHS accreditation and Dataflow verification — see Gulf Healthcare Licensing Support.
  • A long-term placement inside a private family residence, bound by absolute confidentiality.

What this appointment asks of you

High-acuity nursing inside a private residential suite is the brief, and the suite is fully staffed, which makes this a post for a nurse who wants both autonomy and colleagues. You will provide continuous one-to-one care for a named principal — monitoring, medication governance, post-procedural and complex care, escalation to the household’s physicians — with the scope to practise to the full extent of your registration rather than by delegated task. The same nurse, the same principal, over the long term: that continuity is what the household is paying for, and the upper end of the range reflects it. Seven years of acute or private duty nursing is the threshold; SCFHS eligibility and immaculate discretion are the conditions.

Licensing sequence: SCFHS, Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia licenses clinicians through the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) on the Mumaris Plus platform. For a residential appointment the sequence runs as follows:

  • DataFlow primary source verification of your nursing degree, current registration (NMC, NMBI or your European regulator), certificate of good standing and experience letters on institutional letterhead — typically four to eight weeks when the dossier is complete on submission.
  • SCFHS professional classification, which sets your title and grade; SCFHS may require its nursing licensing examination for some classifications — we confirm your exemption status before you commit to anything.
  • Professional registration and licence issuance, followed by the work visa, the medical fitness examination and the iqama (residency permit) on arrival.
  • Household onboarding: NDA execution, accommodation, banking and the practical steps we coordinate with the family office before your first day.

With a complete dossier on day one we usually see SCFHS eligibility inside ten to fourteen weeks; the visa and residency stage then runs in parallel with relocation planning. Our notes on SCFHS and Mumaris Plus in 2026 and on the DataFlow workflow set out what to prepare, and good-standing certificates explains the one document that most often delays a file. European-registered nurses should also read the SCFHS pathway for European nursing registrations.

How the package is structured

The figure quoted above — £65,000 – £100,000 per annum — is base remuneration, and it is paid tax-free: Saudi Arabia levies no personal income tax on employment earnings, so the number on the offer is the number that arrives.

Accommodation, flights and medical cover are provided in addition to base, which is what makes the net position so different from a UK or European salary: with housing and travel carried by the household, most of the base figure is savings capacity. Health insurance in Gulf contracts explains the cover clauses worth reading twice.

End-of-service gratuity accrues under local labour law for each completed year and is paid when the contract ends; our note on end-of-service gratuity and repatriation explains how it is calculated and what to check in the contract.

If you are leaving the UK part-way through a tax year, split-year treatment under the Statutory Residence Test usually applies; keep a day-count from the date you leave and take advice from a cross-border adviser — we point every candidate to one, and tax-free wealth preservation for Gulf clinicians sets out the planning points.

Run your own comparison with the UK versus GCC net position calculator or the Gulf net package estimator; we are happy to walk through the result with you before any interview.

Living in Riyadh

Riyadh is the Kingdom’s capital and its administrative centre, and the city has changed at a pace that surprises clinicians who last visited a decade ago: new districts, a metro, an events calendar that runs through the winter, and a residential market that ranges from the Diplomatic Quarter to the established international compounds in the north of the city. Household appointments normally come with accommodation on the estate or in a compound chosen by the family, so your decision is about days off rather than house-hunting.

Winters are mild and bright; summers are hot and lived indoors or early in the day. London is around seven hours by direct flight. Families relocating with children have a wide choice of British and American curriculum schools — our international school fees benchmark sets out fees — and the Riyadh districts and compounds guide covers districts, compounds and commuting; the cultural adjustment guide covers the unwritten rules.

How the search is run

We run this search as a full-cycle search under a retained, confidential mandate. The first conversation is with Vanessa, our Executive Search Lead, and it is a briefing rather than a screening: what the appointment involves day to day, what the household selects for, and whether it fits the life you want. Your CV goes nowhere until you say so.

If you proceed, your dossier is checked against the licensing route above, the household is briefed on an anonymised profile, and interviews run by video before an in-person meeting arranged by the family. Offer, NDA and contract are settled before any licensing fee is incurred. The time-to-hire estimator gives realistic timings for a nurse appointment; confidential hiring process and confidentiality, NDA and vetting explain the household’s side of the process.
