Dubai nursing has moved upmarket faster than the salary surveys have
The Emirate’s nursing demand is no longer principally hospital demand. The growth is in private duty, longevity and geriatric care within residential estates, in aeromedical and VIP flight nursing, and in the concierge segment attached to UHNW families resident in Dubai.
Our live nursing mandates in Dubai run from £70,000 to £85,000 per annum, tax-free and paid net, with private household appointments frequently structured above that where continuity and travel are involved.
Where the specialised demand sits
Private duty, longevity and geriatric care. Discreet, one-to-one care within a residential estate. Clinical excellence matters, but so does calm judgement and the composure expected in a household of standing. This is the largest single category we place in the Emirate.
Aeromedical and VIP flight nursing. A genuinely distinct discipline: stabilisation and monitoring in a confined cabin, at altitude, without a colleague to consult. Dubai’s private aviation base makes it one of the few markets in the world with sustained demand for it.
Neonatal and paediatric household care. The most under-specified brief a family office ever writes. Estate managers and security details are commissioned against documents running to many pages; the nursing brief usually arrives as three lines. We rewrite it before we start.
A nursing shortlist rarely collapses loudly. Four strong candidates acknowledge the brief, two agree to a call, one asks unusually precise questions about ratios and reporting lines, and the thread goes quiet.
The regulator and the timeline
Nursing appointments in Dubai are licensed by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), with primary source verification through DataFlow. Registration with the NMC, or an equivalent Western regulator, is the baseline requirement.
| Phase | Typical duration |
|---|---|
| DataFlow primary source verification | 4–8 weeks |
| DHA file assessment and classification | 2–4 weeks |
| Assessment, where applicable | 2–4 weeks |
| Licence issue, visa and mobilisation | 2–4 weeks |
Offer to licence typically runs 8 to 12 weeks with licensing sequenced in parallel with search. Note that a DHA licence does not transfer to Abu Dhabi. Establish your own position with the GCC Licensing Classifier.

What the package leaves you with
Model the actual net position rather than the headline figure with the UK vs GCC Net Position Calculator. Housing and medical cover are absorbed in most Dubai packages and paid from taxed income at home, which is where the real difference sits.
