Package
- £70,000 – £85,000 per annum, tax-free, structured to experience and flight qualifications.
- Luxury private accommodation allowance, full international health cover, annual return flights, generous paid leave.

What this appointment asks of you
Inflight care for private principals is critical care with an altitude and a clock. The nurse plans each mission — patient assessment, equipment and oxygen calculations, drug and consumable kit, receiving facility liaison — then delivers continuous monitoring and, when required, emergency intervention aboard private and charter aircraft operating out of Dubai. There is no colleague to defer to in the cabin, which is why intensive care, flight nursing or aeromedical evacuation experience is a prerequisite rather than a preference. Between missions the work is readiness: kit audits, protocol maintenance, coordination with the ground medical team and the aviation operator. Calm operational execution and discretion around who is flying, and why, define the role.
Licensing sequence: DHA, Dubai
Dubai licenses clinicians through the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) on its Sheryan platform. For a residential appointment the sequence is:
- DataFlow primary source verification of your nursing degree, current registration (NMC, NMBI or your European regulator), certificate of good standing and experience letters on institutional letterhead — typically four to eight weeks with a complete dossier.
- DHA eligibility assessment: Tier-1 registration with verified experience is generally exempt from the DHA assessment; where an assessment applies we tell you before you commit.
- Issue of the eligibility letter, then licence activation under the licensed private medical entity associated with the household, followed by the residence visa and Emirates ID.
- Household onboarding: NDA execution, accommodation, banking and the practical steps we coordinate with the family office before your first day.
With a complete dossier on day one we usually see DHA eligibility inside eight to twelve weeks. Our DHA licensing guide walks through each stage, registration versus licence explains why the eligibility letter is not yet a licence, and licensing for private residences explains how a household appointment is sponsored. Nurses should also read how NMC, NMBI and European registrations are treated.
How the package is structured
The figure quoted above — £70,000 – £85,000 per annum — is base remuneration, and it is paid tax-free: the UAE levies no personal income tax on employment earnings, so the number on the offer is the number that arrives.
Accommodation, flights and medical cover are provided in addition to base, which is what makes the net position so different from a UK or European salary: with housing and travel carried by the household, most of the base figure is savings capacity. Health insurance in Gulf contracts explains the cover clauses worth reading twice.
End-of-service gratuity accrues under local labour law for each completed year and is paid when the contract ends; our note on end-of-service gratuity and repatriation explains how it is calculated and what to check in the contract.
If you are leaving the UK part-way through a tax year, split-year treatment under the Statutory Residence Test usually applies; keep a day-count from the date you leave and take advice from a cross-border adviser — we point every candidate to one, and tax-free wealth preservation for Gulf clinicians sets out the planning points.
Run your own comparison with the UK versus GCC net position calculator or the Gulf net package estimator; we are happy to walk through the result with you before any interview.
Living in Dubai
Dubai needs little introduction: a global hub with direct flights to almost everywhere, a residential market that runs from Jumeirah and the Palm to the villa communities of Dubai Hills and Arabian Ranches, and a service culture built around people who arrive from abroad. Household appointments normally include accommodation provided by the family — a villa within the compound or a residence nearby — so the practical question is how you will spend your time off.
Winters are the reason people stay; summers are hot and lived indoors or on the water early in the day. London is around seven hours by direct flight. Families have the region’s widest choice of British curriculum schools — the Dubai districts and school catchments guide explains catchments, and our international school fees benchmark gives current fees — and the cultural adjustment guide covers the adjustments worth anticipating.
How we run this search
Every appointment of this kind follows the same discipline. It begins with a confidential briefing call with Vanessa, our Executive Search Lead, covering your clinical profile, your motivations and your family situation; nothing is written down that you have not agreed to share. Your dossier is then reviewed against the licensing route above so that we know, before anyone else is involved, whether your file will classify cleanly.
The household or its family office is briefed anonymously. Your name and documents are shared only with your written authorisation, first-stage interviews are held by video, and a final meeting is arranged in person — usually with travel organised by the household. Offer, NDA and contract follow, and licensing and mobilisation begin the same week. Our time-to-hire estimator shows how long each stage takes; the confidential hiring process and confidentiality, NDA and vetting pages explain how the household side is governed.
