Private Yacht Nurse — Mediterranean Cruise Programme, Monaco

Private Medical Recruitment for the Gulf | UK & European Trained Specialists

Medical Staff Talent is appointing an exceptional UK & European-trained Registered Nurse to a permanent, one-to-one role aboard a private superyacht cruising the Mediterranean — Monaco, Ibiza, Mallorca, Marbella and the Côte d’Azur among its ports of call. The appointment is designed for an acute care nurse who wants to bring intensive care standards to a private, high-status environment at sea.

The clinical structure on board is deliberately robust: a double-nurse shift pattern, so that a peer is always alongside, supported by a UK & European-trained Lead Doctor and dedicated UK & European-trained Physiotherapists. Care is safe, comprehensive and unhurried.

The Mandate

  • Continuous, high-quality one-to-one nursing care for a private VIP client aboard a luxury cruising vessel.
  • Management of complex medication regimes and monitoring of chronic health conditions with absolute clinical accuracy.
  • Seamless coordination of healthcare requirements with international medical specialists and world-class networks.
  • Rigorous medical documentation and oversight of the inventory of advanced onboard clinical supplies.
  • Close collaboration within a double-nurse rotation to ensure round-the-clock medical readiness.

Candidate Requirements

  • UK & European-trained Registered Nurse holding a UK or European-accredited four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Minimum four years of recent acute hospital experience, specifically within ICU, ER or critical care units.
  • Full professional fluency in English, written and spoken.
  • Availability to start within six weeks of offer.
  • Complete flexibility around the family’s calendar.
  • The ability to relocate alone and to travel with the family worldwide, often at short notice.
  • Nurses are always placed in pairs — two nurses alternating shifts — to protect continuity of care.
  • Complete flexibility for international maritime travel across the Mediterranean.

Package

  • From €5,000 a month, depending on the appointment
  • Premium private accommodation provided on board, with living expenses close to nil.
  • 30 days of paid annual leave.
  • All travel, transit and professional expenses fully covered.
  • A streamlined video-call interview process.

What this appointment asks of you

The double-nurse rotation is the defining feature: unlike most onboard posts, you will never be the only clinician awake, and the shift pattern is built so that a peer is always alongside, with a Lead Doctor and physiotherapists completing the team. The clinical content is what an ICU or emergency nurse knows — complex medication regimes, chronic condition monitoring, immaculate documentation, readiness for deterioration — applied to a single VIP client in a private environment where the standards are set by the family rather than by a ward. Inventory and supply governance for the onboard clinical locker sits with the nursing team, as does coordination with international specialists when a presentation warrants it. The household selects for four years of recent acute experience, composure in a confined and changing environment, and the maturity to be a good crew member while remaining, unmistakably, the clinician.

Registration and sea-readiness

Onboard appointments follow the law of the vessel’s flag state and, within territorial waters or in port, that of the coastal state. The family’s office confirms the framework for each itinerary. When you travel with the family, all local arrangements (visa, licensed entity, coordination with local clinics) remain with the family’s own office and advisers. In practice the sequence is:

  • Home registration in good standing (GMC, NMC, HCPC or your European regulator) with a current certificate of good standing.
  • STCW basic safety training and a seafarer medical certificate (ENG1 or the national equivalent), which most management companies require before embarkation; maritime medical training is valued.
  • Onboarding with the household and the captain: NDA execution, cabin allocation, medical locker and inventory handover, and the evacuation protocols for the season’s itinerary.

Our notes on maritime governance for onboard clinicians, superyacht medical staffing and how Gulf households staff their vessels explain what to prepare before the season. Nurses should also read yacht nurse appointments in the Mediterranean.

How the package is structured

Remuneration starts from €5,000 a month, depending on the appointment. It is a gross salary, agreed directly with the family and paid into the bank account of your choice, with accommodation and travel provided by the household; living costs at sea are close to nil, which is why onboard appointments build savings faster than the headline figure suggests.

The salary is agreed directly between the family and the clinician. Your personal tax position depends on your residence status and the days you spend in any one country during the season, so take advice from an independent cross-border adviser before signing; wealth preservation and reading the real numbers set out the questions to settle first.

Insurance is the other line to read carefully — the vessel’s policy, your own indemnity and repatriation cover — and our insurance and liability resources list what to ask the management company for.

Life on board and between charters

Life on board follows the season: the Côte d’Azur, the Balearics, Sardinia and the Amalfi coast, the Greek islands, with the itinerary set by the family and the vessel’s programme. Between charters there are flights home; during them there is a private cabin, a crew that runs to a high standard, and the discipline of a small, close community. Many of the households commissioning these appointments base themselves in the Gulf outside the Mediterranean season, and the shore months are often spent there.

Our notes on a clinical career on the Mediterranean circuit and how Gulf households staff their vessels describe the rhythm of the year. Every appointment is single-status, with accommodation provided by the household aboard and ashore.

How we run this search

Every appointment of this kind follows the same discipline. It begins with a confidential briefing call with Vanessa, our Executive Search Lead, covering your clinical profile, your motivations and your readiness to relocate alone; nothing is written down that you have not agreed to share. Your qualifications, registration and references are then verified before anyone else is involved.

The household or its family office is briefed anonymously. Your name and documents are shared only with your written authorisation, first-stage interviews are held by video, and a final meeting is arranged in person — usually with travel organised by the household. Offer, NDA and contract follow, agreed directly between you and the family. Our time-to-hire estimator shows how long each stage takes; the confidential hiring process and confidentiality, NDA and vetting pages explain how the household side is governed.

Scope of Our Role

Medical Staff Talent introduces and verifies clinicians. The engagement is contracted directly between the family and the clinician, and all local arrangements (visa, licensed entity, coordination with local clinics) remain with the family’s own office and advisers.
