Medical Staff Talent
Private Medical Recruitment for the Gulf | UK & European Trained Specialists
Medical Staff Talent is appointing a UK & European-trained Consultant Paediatrician to a Royal Household in Riyadh, providing continuity paediatric care for the children of the family from a private clinical suite within the residence.
The appointment carries clinical leadership of the household’s paediatric care — developmental surveillance, immunisation governance, acute presentations and the coordination of visiting sub-specialists — for a small number of children who will come to know their physician well.
The Mandate
- Continuity general paediatric care for the children of the household: developmental surveillance, immunisation governance and the management of acute presentations within the residence.
- Clinical lead for the household’s paediatric and neonatal nurses — protocols, escalation pathways and medication governance.
- Coordination of visiting paediatric sub-specialists, diagnostics and any hospital episode, so that the children’s medicine is joined up rather than episodic.
- Absolute discretion under NDA.
Candidate Requirements
- CCT in Paediatrics, or an equivalent European specialist certification (Facharzt für Kinder- und Jugendmedizin or the equivalent European fellowship), from a Tier-1 UK or European institution.
- Minimum seven years post-certification consultant-grade practice, including substantive general and acute paediatrics.
- Demonstrated discretion in confidential household environments.
- Fluent English.
Package
- £270,000 – £350,000 per annum, tax-free and liquid
- Fully serviced villa accommodation and full relocation support
- Comprehensive private health cover and global malpractice indemnity
- Annual leave with flights home and long-term contract stability
Licensing and Relocation
Medical Staff Talent provides discreet advisory guidance on documentation, licensing and onboarding throughout the SCFHS process, including what Dataflow primary source verification will ask of you and when. See our Gulf Healthcare Licensing Support for the full sequence.
What this appointment asks of you
Paediatrics for one family, delivered from a private clinical suite rather than a hospital ward. The consultant is the children’s physician in the fullest sense: the routine developmental checks and immunisation schedule, the middle-of-the-night fever, the referral that must be made quietly and quickly, and the standing brief to the parents on what is normal and what is not. The household’s paediatric and neonatal nurses look to the consultant for protocol and escalation, and visiting sub-specialists are coordinated around the children rather than the other way round. Seven years of consultant-grade practice with substantive acute exposure is the threshold. The Riyadh household will select for calm judgement, evidence-led candour with the parents, and the discretion a Royal Household demands.
Licensing sequence: SCFHS, Saudi Arabia
The Kingdom’s regulator is the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), and every step runs through its Mumaris Plus platform. For this appointment the route is:
- DataFlow primary source verification of your primary medical degree, specialist certification (CCT, CCST, Facharzt or the equivalent European fellowship), current registration, certificate of good standing and experience letters — typically four to eight weeks when the dossier is complete on submission.
- SCFHS professional classification, which sets your title and grade; Tier-1 specialist certification normally classifies at Consultant grade, which removes the assessment requirement for most physicians.
- Professional registration and licence issuance, followed by the work visa, the medical fitness examination and the iqama (residency permit) on arrival.
- Household onboarding: NDA execution, accommodation, banking and the practical steps we coordinate with the family office before your first day.
With a complete dossier on day one we usually see SCFHS eligibility inside ten to fourteen weeks; the visa and residency stage then runs in parallel with relocation planning. Our notes on SCFHS and Mumaris Plus in 2026 and on the DataFlow workflow set out what to prepare, and good-standing certificates explains the one document that most often delays a file. Consultants should also read Saudi medical licensing for consultants.
Reading the package
Base remuneration for this appointment is £270,000 – £350,000 per annum, paid without deduction: there is no personal income tax on employment earnings in Saudi Arabia, which is why a Gulf figure should never be compared line-for-line with a gross UK or European salary.
Villa or residence accommodation, transport, health cover and flights are provided in addition to base, and indemnity is arranged by the household; before signing, read the policy territory and the run-off provision — medical liability in the UAE and Saudi Arabia sets out the questions to ask.
An end-of-service gratuity accrues for every completed year of service and is settled on departure — see end-of-service gratuity and repatriation for the calculation and the contract clauses that govern it.
Your home-country tax position on departure — split-year treatment for UK residents, exit formalities elsewhere in Europe — is worth settling before the first salary lands; we introduce candidates to a cross-border adviser, and cost of living and net position for Gulf clinicians gives the household-level numbers.
Run your own comparison with the UK versus GCC net position calculator or the Gulf net package estimator; we are happy to walk through the result with you before any interview.
Living in Riyadh
The capital rewards clinicians who arrive with a plan for their time off: the Diplomatic Quarter’s parks and restaurants, the compounds’ pools and sports clubs, Diriyah’s historic district, and a winter calendar of concerts, sport and exhibitions that did not exist a few years ago. Accommodation for a household appointment is provided by the family, usually on the estate or in a compound they select, which removes the largest relocation variable at a stroke.
Direct flights to London take around seven hours; Jeddah and the Red Sea coast are an hour’s flight for a weekend. Our Riyadh districts and compounds guide covers districts, compounds and commuting in detail, the Gulf family relocation brief explains schooling and spousal employment, and the cultural adjustment guide covers what nobody puts in the offer letter.
What happens when you apply
The household has retained us exclusively, which shapes how the search runs: there is no advertisement beyond this page, no agency panel, and no CV database. Vanessa, our Executive Search Lead, holds a confidential briefing call with every candidate we take forward — the appointment in detail, the household’s expectations, the licensing route and the life around the post — before anything is committed to paper.
From there the sequence is fixed: dossier and licensing check, an anonymised profile to the family office with your written authorisation, video interviews, an in-person meeting arranged by the household, then offer, NDA and contract before licensing fees are incurred. The time-to-hire estimator shows what each stage takes for a physician appointment; confidential hiring process and confidentiality, NDA and vetting explain the household’s side.
